Residencies

2026 – Patrimónios em Transito Residency Programme, São Tomé and Príncipe Biennial of Arts and Culture

Project À Volta do Barro developed within the residency programme of the XI Biennale of São Tomé and Príncipe (2027), in collaboration with ceramicist Alcides Ramos Morais (Cape Verde) and archeologist Dores Cruz (Portugal) and support from CACAU, Mucumbli Explore and the Municipality of Boa Vista.

2025 – À Volta do Barro, Verhalenhuis Belvédère, The Netherlands

Project À Volta do Barro developed through a residency and workshops with ceramicist Alcides Ramos Morais (Cape Verde) in collaboration with Verhalenhuis Belvédère and with support from Cultuurparticipatie, Community Center Post West, Stichting MIJ, Gerstaecker BV, the Municipality of Boa Vista, and the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries of Cape Verde.

2025 – Residency À Volta do Barro, Cape Verde 

Residency with the ceramic community of Rabil (Boa Vista), in collaboration with curator and cultural advisor Ricardo Barbosa Vicente, the Municipality of Boa Vista and Centro de Artes e Cultura of Sal Rei (Art and Culture Centre).

2024 – Residency Fablab Lisboa, Portugal 

Residency with ceramicist Isabel Sanches Tavares (Cape Verde), with support from the Municipality of Lisbon, Virginia Frois and Ricardo Barbosa Vicente.

2023–2024 — Residency Programme, São Tomé and Príncipe Biennial of Arts and Culture

Installation O Mundo Imaginário developed within the residency programme of the X Biennale of São Tomé and Príncipe (Re)Discovering Ourselves (2024).

2023— Residency, São Tomé and Príncipe Biennial of Arts and Culture

Artistic research developed in collaboration with communities from Santana, Malanza, Ribeira Afonso and Porto Alegre for the development of participatory installation for the Biennale of São Tomé and Príncipe (2024).

Projects

2024–Current — À Volta do Barro (Around the Clay)

Project centred on a ceramic tradition historically sustained and transmitted by women. Bringing together archival research, archaeological research and collective ceramic practices, it examines how this tradition has been shaped by colonialism, forced migration and broader social change across Atlantic geographies, and how it continues today.

2023–2025 — The Coloniality of Gender, São Tomé 

Artistic project in collaboration with communities from Santana, Ribeira Afonso, Malanza and Porto Alegre, examining how Atlantic plantation histories continue to shape landscapes and social structures.

2020–2022 — MeeMakers 

Co-founder of the collective MeeMakers, focusing on participatory and community-based artistic practices. Supported by Stichting Voordekunst, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, Platform ACCT and the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW).

2016–2018 — Sacred Forests, Guinea-Bissau

Ecological research on forests protected and managed through spiritual beliefs and practices, developed in collaboration with the inhabitants of the villages Belí, Capebonde and Uncire (Boé region), Wageningen University and the Chimbo Foundation. Awarded by Wageningen University in 2018 for its collaborative research approach.
